Over 130 km ski piste at ski resort Kaprun Zell-am-See

Kaprun is a snow-sure winter sport destination because skiing is always possible on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, which means that skiers and snowboarders can make their journeys on beautifully snow-covered pistes for more than ten months from autumn to late spring. At the end of 2019 even the Zell am See – Kaprun and Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang areas will be connected by a 10-person gondola. The gondola starts in Viehhofen and comes out on top of the Salersbachköpfl.

The Kaprun ski area offers no less than 61 kilometers of slopes. Kaprun has the same ski pass as Zell am See, another great ski area 15 minutes’ drive away. The majority of the Kaprun ski area is above 2,000 meters, so no trees here, but nice wide slopes with very good snow conditions. The highest point of Kaprun (3,029 m) is on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier and the middle station is at 1,976 meters.

New ski lifts in the 2019-2020 season

Kaprun and Zell am See have invested heavily in the construction of the ZellamseeXpress (2016) and the Maiskogelbahn (2018) in recent years, but now the dream of many skiers has been realized, the connection of the Kaprun glacier – the Kitzsteinhorn – with the Maiskogel , Zell am See and even Saalbach. From winter 2019 you can go directly from the village (Kaprun) to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. From Viehhofen (near Saalbach) you can get directly to the Schmittenhöhe from Zell am See with a new ski lift.

The big advantage is that you no longer have to drive to the Kitzsteinhorn by bus or car, but quickly reach the lift from your apartment. From the glacier you can ski back to Kaprun via the Maiskogel ski area. Down at the Maiskogelbahn there will be a ski depot with 2000 places so that you can easily walk back to the apartment.

3 Funparks at de Kitzsteinhorn

Snowboarders, as well as free-skiers, will love the Snowpark Kitzsteinhorn, which is situated at an altitude of approximately 2,900 metres. This park offers abundant space for you to experiment with new moves. The highlight is Austria’s biggest super-pipe. The half pipe is 160 metres long and 6 metres high. Pipes are not your cup of tea? No problem, just take a seat in the spectators’ area and cheer on the brave skiers.

The world’s longest Funslope

Enjoy the world’s longest Funslope at the Schmitten: 1.300m full of obstacles. Get a momorable video or your own ride through the Funslope with the SpotOn Video Tracker.

Families will love the MPark on the family mountain Maiskogel, which includes the Maisi-Phantasiepark for children. However, it also meets the needs of advanced skiers looking for action.
